Music

I love all sorts of music. Oldies, metal, punk, rap, pop, some country, classical, etc. The one thing that has ocurred to me over the years is that my generation has some great music, but I don't think it is going to age well. Take music from the 50s and 60s, this is good stuff for aging. You can play it and enjoy it for the nostalgia or for the romance, but our music does not really have this. I love Eminem, but he isn't something that is going to be very cool to be tooling down the road in our 40s and 50s. Ludacris? Sean Paul? Hilary Duff? Rancid? Kelly Clarkson? I could go on and on. Is it just me, or do you find it hard to imagine people looking back on our music as a golden age?

Um, I agree with you, but I don't know if the fact that I don't listen to a lot of the top 40, etc., makes me more or less credible. If I'm not enjoying it now, I doubt if I'll be enjoying it in 30 years.

Hilary Duff? I thought you had to be 13 to listen to her :)

I listen to a range of music as well and notice that most of the songs I choose are 'old' songs from at least 10 years ago. I wont know what's popular today untill I'm in my 40's. I 'm just a slow listener I guess.

A lot of these pop stars today are disposable. They're just fabricated to make money for record labels.

Yep.. and a lot of these millenium pop groups/singers do not sound good. Now I loved the 80's music... they could even sing on tune. LOL
