Productivity
Since I am on the clock at work I figured now would be an excellent time to do a little blogging. Those of you who are familiar you with my job will recognize that it is almost essential to do other things aside from "work" to maintain your sanity. It makes me wonder how much actual work people do while they are officially getting paid. Most everyone I know is usually engaged in other activities while they are on the job. It seems, upon further review, that the traditional 40 hour work week could be wittled down to an efficient 5-10 hours. Just think how productive you would be if you knew after those short hours of work you would be able to leave work and accomplish other things. I have a job that has no real long-range goal and it is difficult to think how all my work could be crammed into under 10 hours, but that is okay b/c it is your typical dead end job. Someday, when I grow up (whenever that may be), I'm sure my career will have more purpose. For now, I must be satisfied with tolerating disatisfied customers and underachieving coworkers. Good times. Happy weekend everyone and try not to think about the upcoming 40 hours next week.

currently, my right arm is going numb from playing so much free cell. fortunately, i get to leave work early today, so i don't expect to have any permanent injuries.

5-10 hours sounds a good deal more desirable than my proposed plan of 4 days a week. I spend most of my time reading other people's blogs. I'm glad Sarah linked yours, I'll be back to read more~ very amusing.
I've been reading yours as well. I think it is really interesting to hear about how you and baby are getting along :)
Actually, I heard on the news a couple of weeks ago that St. Louis is the most unproductive with their work day. The average employee wastes over 3 hours per day.
I am too productive at work... I only slack around 15 minutes per day (aka: my break). I think will try to make it a point to slack more on the job.
Katie, I think my job must rival yours in ability to slack. But, as I am a student as well, I usually fill that "work" time with highly productive studying. Does that count as slacking if you are working very hard (just not on your employer's business but on your own)?
You mean I get paid to do real work at my dead end job? I wonder if that'll come up in my yearly review...
I would be much more productive if I knew I could go home once I got everything done, instead of having to stay until 5:00. As it is right now, I "pace" myself, in order to make it last... smart, huh?
