I have good intentions...

I really do mean to post more, but life seems to get in the way.

I continue to settle into the new job. I think I am having the normal feelings anyone else has where they wonder if they are ready for the responsibility. I think I have them more because I happened to be in the right place at the right time and everyone knows it. It's not my fault my boss decided to retire early, but I think I can do this job and not make people miserable while I am at it. My personal life has taken a decidedly backseat position to everything else. I feel like I don't have nearly as much "laying about" time. You know how I love to sit on a couch and watch some TiVo. Sometimes I get home and can only watch one or two programs and then it is off to bed. What happened to the Katie of years before? I guess she got a lot more sh*t to do. What about everyone else out there? Peyton is getting married and we are having a little get together at the G-unit mansion in a few weeks so that should be fun. My old roommate from college is getting married in May so that is another wedding I will be attending. Woo. Hoo. That's about it. Hope all is well out in the virtual world!

Goodness, it's been a while

Hello all (I am, of course, referring to that one person who is actually reading this out there), as you may have noticed I haven't been very diligent about ye ole blog. I guess I've just been busy. I miss it, though. Life is pretty much the same. I have been adjusting to the new job and feeling a little more grown up. Now I need to get all my other ducks in a row. I am seriously thinking about looking for a more permanent residence (a little tired of apartment living - although I love the roommie). This will require more financial planning, which makes my financial planner a good investment. I also need to get a handle on the whole health thing and try to be more conscious of what goes in my body. Lastly, the same old same old - see what's going on in the relationship with a male department. I'll let you know if I make progress.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!!

Here's the Story....

Alright, so I said that there were major changes in the works. Let me review:

In the past month or so, I have...

Been to Las Vegas, Boca Raton, Miami, and Nashville

Someone that I know who I am quite fond of has been diagnosed with cancer. He is currently receiving treatment and I hope that you pray for him

I am probably being promoted at my job. Perhaps temporarily or it could be permanent. There will definitely be a probationary period, but it would mean I would be the boss for at least 3 months. Like the boss boss.

Vegas was awesome. The Beatles show was great and if you ever have a chance you should go.

Florida with the family was challenging. Spending that much time with family is always challenging. I did come home with a killer tan.

I am currently in Nashville for a work conference.

Life is exciting. I will probably post more tomorrow. Thanks for sticking with me

I would like to say

That I had a much improved day. I would like to say that. Unfortunately, it turns out that today was not better. On my way to work, my car was making a strange noise but I ignored it and it went away. About ten minutes later, I much louder noise and the car started driving funny and I realized that I had a flat tire. Luckily, I wasn't very far from a large parking lot. I called AAA and they came out and had me back on the road in less than an hour. My day before was such crap, this whole thing didn't really phase me. Of course, my philosophical point of view changed once I realized that after buying two new tires (apparently, another one was pretty worn down) I was going to be out $353. I'll admit that I had a little pity party and cried for a couple of minutes in the car on the way back to work. After getting myself under control - after all - as a particularly compassionate person told me yesterday "crying doesn't fix anything."

Ironically enough, while I was driving to work, before the tire went, I was singing along to the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want"

I'm still here

It occurs to me that I haven't really posted in over a week and it was not the most positive message, so I wanted to let everyone know that I am doing fine. Things are smoothing out. Work is still stressful, but that isn't going to change. The things with the boy are confusing, but I don't really care anymore so it doesn't matter. I'm sure I will post something interesting soon.

To date or not to date

Someone told me that I'm not even trying. To date, that is. It's true. I'm not. It's much easier to pretend that guys don't exist than to be rejected. I don't write this post to elicit sympathy or online denials...because the plain truth is that I am not fit to date. Seriously, I am just too...I'm going to say it...right now...okay, in a minute...fat. Why would anyone want to date me? You know what happens when you're overweight (but not grossly so)? You become invisible. People just don't see you. Of course my friends see me, but other people don't. It's amazing to be so easily dismissed. I'm pretty used to it. If you haven't ever experienced this, then it is hard to explain. It's like people look right through you because they are trying to find something else to see. Wow. No more of this kind of posting. I want to delete this, but I am just going to stick with being honest.

The Hard Truth

What makes me miserable is paving the way for other's happiness. True Story.

It comes in threes

Isn't that what they say about death? Peyton's dad passed away the Saturday after Thanksgiving. My cousin Julie passed away Saturday. And my best friend from home lost her grandmother this morning. No more. Not one more person. Does everyone hear me? Be careful out there.

Until it's gone

I just wanted to remind everyone to call your loved ones and let them know how much they mean to you. I received news that a very close friend lost their dad last night and it just puts everything in perspective.
