Good Deeds

I've been rather unhappy as of late and I am not sure how to cheer myself up. One idea I have had is doing good deeds. I'm not talking about earth shattering types of things, but just little stuff. For example, today I gave a girl a dollar because she didn't have enough money to get out the parking deck. Now, I know this is not really a big deal, but I am sure it made her life a little easier for the day. I have several friends who do nice things for other people without thinking about it and I want to be more like them. Maybe if I practice doing good things I will do it naturally. Hmm. Worth a thought.

Just be careful if you decide to go around feeding the meters of parked cars... what sitcom (or movie?) was that when someone got in trouble with the meter maid for their good deed?

Yes! Katie, you are now officially on the wagon. You are filling that cup with grace (per Sister Mary Brigid, or was it Sister Mary Thomas). I know that there are plenty of things to be done in Bolivia, but I draw a blank with the states. What other acts of kindness can you perform for strangers without someone wanting to sue you? Help change flat tires, hold doors open, save a kitty in a tree, help an old lady cross the street? Please give me some examples so that I can feel eager to return home and join your brigade.

Oh yeah... you should start out by coming to visit me in Brasil. That would be a very good deed.

Well, I will need you to perform a good deed as well. Give me the dinero to come to Brazil. Ha - saved again. I'll just see you in November ;)

I hear ya... I want to be a better person too. At this moment, my cup of grace is almost empty. After talking to you earlier today, I realized that my life is missing something... compassion for others. It is not always about me and I am finally realizing that. I hope you feel better, but if you need to have a Debbie Downer conversation, you know where to find me. By the way, that was really sweet of you to give away a wole dollar... very generous.

a "wole" dollar? Dude, if you're gonna make fun of me, at least spell it right...

That is very nice of you. :)

Just for the record, I am doing good enough deeds here and living in h*ll so that you don't really have to do anything good. I have got your back (and probably a few others). You can chill and relax a little longer (say until next May).

Sharing your wealth ($, health, happiness) will bring you good karma!

obviously you were not talking about me when you referred to your friends who do nice things.
